About me:
April 14, 1984; a date that will be considered one of the most important of the
twenty-first century, as it marks the birth of myself, Casey John Lewis, whom
will drastically change the world we live in. I was born in Whitehall
Pennsylvania to Reginald and Karen Lewis and was a rather chubby baby who
enjoyed chocolate cake and ice cream. As one might notice from my opening
sentence, my peculiar yet interesting sense of humor was greatly influenced by
my father.
As I began kindergarten, I quickly realized I hated school and being far more perceptive than the other students who simply accepted their fate of coloring and napping eight hours a day, I would continually attempt to thwart the dominant grasp of the public school system. I was relentless in my escape attempts but soon recognized that my efforts were futile and decided to acknowledge the fact that I would be required to further my education and laboriously dredge through additional schooling.
While attending Whitehall High School, I began writing for the newspaper and was accepted as a member of the Quill and Scroll Society. While I disliked elementary school, I grew fond of high school and became exceedingly confident in my unique style. It was then that I chose a career as English teacher. After high school, I attended Penn State Lehigh Valley, a small institution located relatively close to my home. Currently, paring my past experiences with those of Bloomsburg University, I will be able capture a student’s interest in reading, writing, analyzing pieces of literature, and hopefully prevent them from dreading class like I once did. Too many students find English to be boring, when in fact it is the most boundless subject one will study. Literature begs to be interpreted and dissected and provokes a plethora of feelings and images.
While I have contemplated writing a book or movie script, I find myself spending more time on the golf course with a cigar dangling from my mouth. My accomplishments include capturing first place in a two-man scramble, which ultimately qualified my friend and me for a trip to Florida to play in further two-man scrambles. I have also won several trophies for soccer, which I played throughout my childhood and in high school.
More to come with further updates.
